Acetylene Production Plant

The acetylene production plant is located at Kalinovac 2/a in Karlovac. Acetylene has been produced at this location for over 50 years.

In the plant, acetylene is produced through the reaction of calcium carbide with water, resulting in hydrated lime as a byproduct. It is filled into acetylene cylinders and battery packs (clusters of cylinders) and into so-called “trailers” (a system of multiple battery packs connected together).

The facility is also equipped with a system for purifying acetylene. Thus, in addition to standard quality, the plant also produces purified acetylene with a purity of 99.5%.

In 2024, the acetylene production plant was modernized with the installation of a new reactor and accompanying equipment. It is a modern reactor with increased capacity, equipped with all necessary safety systems.
